Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.
Zithromax Directions?
How much Zithromax you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the weight and age of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, speak with your health care provider. Avoid alcohol and other mental depressants (eg, narcotics, tranquilizers, antihistamines) while you are taking this medicine. This medicine may be taken with or without food. This medicine may produce drowsiness; patients should observe caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, physical dexterity, or coordination. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting with your doctor. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor.
Zithromax Side Effects?
Follow the directions for using Zithromax provided by your doctor. Zithromax may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. DO NOT TAKE Zithromax within 1 hour before or 2 hours after aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids. STORE Zithromax at room temperature, away from heat and light. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue taking Zithromax for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any Zithromax doses. Taking Zithromax at the same time each day will make it easier to remember. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF Zithromax, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next Zithromax dose, skip the missed Zithromax dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Zithromax Warnings?
If your Zithromax side effects do not improve within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. IF MODERATE TO SEVERE DIARRHEA OCCURS during or after Zithromax treatment, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not treat it with non-prescription (over-the-counter) medicines. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives while taking Zithromax, tell your doctor immediately. Do not take any more doses of Zithromax unless your doctor tells you to do so. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN TAKING BIRTH CONTROL PILLS: Zithromax may decrease the effectiveness of your birth control pill. To prevent pregnancy, you may want to use an additional form of birth control. IT IS UNKNOWN IF Zithromax IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Zithromax, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Zithromax Drug Interactions?
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to hydroxyzine or any ingredient in this medicine.
Zithromax Storage?
If Zithromax overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
